What are Abandoned Cart Messenger Campaigns?
About 80% of the people that click on “Add to Cart” button in your store do not complete their order.

Message 1 (recommended at 40 minutes):
Most people complete their purchase within 30 minutes. A few can linger for a few hours.
The sooner you reach people who abandon their shopping cart, the more likely you are to convert them to buyers. At 40 minutes, you might actually reach some people who just take their time to complete their purchase.
But you must make this trade-off to reach cart abandoners as fast as possible to maximize your sales.

Message 2 (recommended at 23 hours):
The second message must be within 24 hours according to Facebook policies.
Definitely give them a discount! And emphasize scarcity – e.g. “coupon expires within 24 hours!”
Message 3 (recommended at 47 hours):
The third message must be within 24 hours after the second message. Definitely emphasize that “coupon expires today!” or similar scarcity.”
Can you change the text and schedule?
Absolutely! PoaCart offers a simple, world-class editor.
- Navigate to Messenger Notifications > automated Campaigns
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Edit” on the “Abandoned Cart Messenger Campaign”
You’ll then be presented with a screen where you can edit the messages:
- Keep your message short and simple – the shorter the better.
- Give them a discount coupon – a compelling reason to come back and buy.
- Make use of scarcity – e.g. mention the coupon expires in 24 hours.
- Use emojis – emojis are the style of social media. Make your messages nice, friendly and effective. Our default messages will do the job just fine for most stores.

The messenger receipt is sent when someone completes an order. This gives you an excellent opportunity to sell more.
Send more than just a boring receipt and make more money. Definitely give them a discount coupon to bring them back and buy.

Should you include a discount in the abandoned cart Messenger messages?
Offering them a discount that will expire after some time (e.g. 48 hours) gives them a reason to come back, and it creates the urgency to complete the purchase right away.
Should you include a discount in the first message?
Unless there are other factors affecting their purchase (such as comparing prices with other competitors, etc), most people will complete their order within 30 minutes.
Some people can take longer to complete their purchase – some can even take days!
If you reach cart abandoners when they are in the “buying mode” within the first one hour, you are likely to convert more of them to buyers than if you reach them later.
In our tests on our stores, we have consistently recovered more abandoned carts when we give discounts starting with the first message – making more money.
This means you’re likely to make more money from abandoned cart sales if you give them a discount in the first message.
Will you reach people who are just coupon hunters?
But you’ll end up converting more people and making more money by giving them a discount. For this reason, our default messages give a discount coupon.
Does this campaign comply with Facebook rules?
Facebook allows you to send promotional messages to your subscribers within the first 24 hours.
They also allow you to send one follow-up message after the 24-hour period, that’s your third message.
In order to comply with these rules, the first 2 messages need to go out within the first 24 hours. The third message should go out within 48 hours.
